Not your typical company car, but scorching demand from lease companies for the new Audi SQ5

IT’S perhaps a bit hard to believe at first – that demand for Audi’s tarmac-ripping SQ5 model should come from fleet and leasing companies.

But such seems to be the case.

Gillian Headings is product manager for the A5 range

I spoke to Gillian Headings at the launch of the new Audi SQ5. Gillian is the product manager for the Q5 range as well as the A4 and A5 models.

“Demand has been greater than we expected for the SQ5,” said Gillian, “with a lot of orders coming from the fleet and leasing areas.

“We think that having a CO2 emission figure of 179g/km is making it more attractive for those on the top grades in companies.”

It’s certainly a beguiling mix: diesel efficiency combined with breathtaking performance. You can see why director level type company car drivers are expressing an interest in the SQ5.

“It’s a real differentiator for that market,” agreed Gillian.

So far Gillian said that orders had been evenly split between taking the standard spec or going for a range of the options available.

“The Tech Pack at £1695 has been popular. This gives you 7 inch colour display with navigation system, Audi Music Interface and Audi parking system plus. For an extra £625 you can also add some of our assistance systems in the Technology Package Advanced.”
