Audi TT RS

Audi TT RS

Audi TT RS Coupe quattro

What is it?

AUDI’S svelte TT coupe gets the ultimate Audi performance treatment – the RS badge. And performance upgrade that goes with it. That means a five-cylinder 2.5-litre turbocharged engine delivering 340PS, dramatic RS styling, and a Sport button to boost throttle response and the accompanying five-cylinder engine sound track. Also available as an open-top Roadster.

What’s hot?

  • Fantastic linear power delivery…
  • …You don’t get the turbo thump in the back you expect…
  • …but just a seamless source of forward momentum
  • Delightful five-cylinder ‘warble’ engine note…
  • …aurally boosted by Sport button which opens an exhaust flap
  • Big brakes knock off speed quickly and reassuringly
  • Ride quality is firm but supple
  • Fast-shifting gearchange a pleasure to use
  • 30.7mpg thanks to lightweight construction
  • We averaged 25mpg without holding back on the 340PS
  • Luxury interior features silk nappa leather…
  • …metal drilled pedals and flat-bottomed steering wheel

What’s not?

  • Doesn’t feature the driver engagement of a Cayman…
  • …but has the advantage of not being a Porsche
  • Large rear wing comes from the Audi drama department
  • But can be deleted for more traditional Audi understatement
  • It’s a big price for a TT Coupe…
  • …and with extras like 19ins alloys, sat-nav Plus, mobile phone prep…
  • It all just gets bigger

Business Car Manager Road Test Rating

It’s a great drive that’s guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Add to that the fabulous five-cylinder engine with all its effortless low-down power, surprising economy, and you have a very satisfying TT Coupe. Even if it is a pricey TT Coupe.
