Land Rover have announced 2015 model year changes announced for the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport

LAND Rover has announced the first round of upgrades for the current-generation Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models. Among the highlights – efficiency improvements for the V6-engined diesel models, improved off-road ability and new equipment options such as a head-up display.

The Range Rover TDV6 gets a new “ball bearing” single turbocharger in place of the previous twin turbos, and exhaust gas recirculation. Power (358 PS) and torque (600Nm) are unchanged, but combined fuel consumption improves by 8.5 per cent to 40.9 mpg and CO2 emissions fall to 182 g/km.

The SDV6 engine in the Range Rover Sport keeps its parallel-sequential turbocharging but power is up by 14 PS to 306 PS and torque by 100 Nm to 700 Nm. Combined fuel consumption improves by seven per cent to 40.4 mpg, and CO2 emissions are now 185g/km.

Off-road improvements come in the form of All-Terrain Progress Control (ATPC), a £175 option which works with other Land Rover systems such as Terrain Response to allow a driver to choose a desired speed, either from rest or at an existing speed, to be maintained without any pedal inputs once the brake is released.

The aim is to reduce the workload on the driver during off-road driving and the system can be set at any speed between 1 and 19 mph – including in reverse.

Equipment changes include the optional £1,000 head-up display, which projects dash information onto the windscreen, and an updated range of paint colours which includes a new shade, Yulong White.
