WELL, this looks interesting!
Coventry – the spiritual home of Jaguar – is going to turn the Coventry ring road into a race track.
It sounds a great idea to me – so well done to Coventry City council for giving the Coventry Motofest 2015 event the green light.
A planned two-day event run by the British Automobile Racing Club (BARC) will see British Formula 3 cars, vehicles from the British Touring Car championship and Porsche Carrera Cup series cars taking part in competitive time trials round the Coventry ring road before, it is hoped, a full on round of the British Touring Car Championship in 2016.
Now that would be exciting!
James Noble, Motofest festival director told me:
“With Coventry’s rich motoring heritage and history, it feels like the right fit to be racing in Coventry and we can’t wait to make it happen.”
BARC general manager Ian Watson added:
“The idea of running cars at racing speeds around the city centre is a fairly unique experience and something which could be further developed in the future.”
Couldn’t agree more – roll on Coventry Motofest 2015. And competitive racing on the Coventry ring road!
