A BRITISH car company is using virtual reality to help it sell its latest models to company car drivers.

With the use of an iPhone 6, a new app and 3D goggles potential customers can step into a new Land Rover Discovery Sport that doesn’t really exist.

The equipment means potential customers donning the goggles view a full size version of the car, can walk around it and when the doors open can actually lean inside to see the interior

Chris Newitt, Jaguar Land Rover UK sales director, said the Durvioua Dive app allowed fleet and sales managers to give customers the opportunity to get the flavour of the car even before the real thing was available.

“It even allows us to show customers the car in their place of work,” he said.
JLR’s managing director, Jeremy Hicks said: “This really is cutting edge equipment and we are the first to get it.

“It’s so real I have seen customers jump out the way when the tailgate suddenly opens because the car looks so real to them.”

A similar app is also available for the new Jaguar XE.
