BMW is part way through a green performance roadshow tour demonstrating the BMW iPerformance brand of plug-in electric vehicles to leasing companies.

Starting two weeks ago, the roadshow is designed to demonstrate the capabilities – both in terms of performance and operational efficiency – of the i3, i8 and current range of PHEV models.

The roadshow has encompassed Alphabet, ALD, Hitachi and LeasePlan so far.

“We don’t like turning up and doing the typically predictable ride-and-drive events,” explained Adam Harley, national leasing manager, BMW.

“Instead we’ve aimed for something more memorable and engaging. Our leasing company partners have been really flexible, allowing us the space to park a bespoke promotion unit as well as the room for a whole range of cars.

“We appreciate that there are constant requests from all OEMs to hold ride-and-drives, so we feel it incumbent on us to deliver something that will add real value to their business as well as ours.”

Adam explained that the driver behind the series of iPerformance roadshows was to explain the BMW electric and PHEV offer, and how they satisfy the majority of driver usage scenarios.

“There isn’t a PowerPoint slide in sight,” continued Adam. “Instead we have a more interactive approach. And of course, everyone gets to drive the cars.”

The events seems to be working, “with excellent feedback,” continued Adam. “They have created a real buzz with our customers. With the new BMW 5 Series and new MINI Countryman, each including a PHEV soon after launch, the offering from BMW Group is second to none.”

Having started at at Alphabet on 19 October the iPerformance roadshow heads north this week before finishing on 11 November at LeasePlan Go.
