Best SME After Sales Programme: Hyundai

HYUNDAI continues to hold on to the Best SME After Sales Programme crown, in the 2017 Business Car Manager SME Company Car of the Year Awards.

So why does Hyundai reign at the top again, especially as there have been no changes since its Fleet After Sales Charter won the award last year.

Well Hyundai continues to achieve the highest levels of customer service, by employing a range of customer-focussed initiatives, such as fixed labour rates and discounts on parts, while ensuring basic customer service requirements are met.

So, this Fleet Sales Charter remains at the heart of Hyundai’s after sales business, which 99% of the network is signed up to, which continues to put fleet customers first.

The Hyundai Fleet After Sales Charter

The Charter works on four distinct levels and they are:

  • Cost of Ownership
  • Ease of use
  • Hyundai experience
  • Transparency

Prior to the launch of the Fleet After Sales Charter, a fleet customer would pay a typical average hourly labour rate of £68.60 (+VAT) with variable oil pricing and no guarantee of any parts discount.

If you take a Hyundai i40 (2016 MY 1.7 D 115PS) as an example of a typical fleet vehicle which travels over 80,000 miles over four years, a fleet customer would now save on average over £119 during this period for the same car on servicing costs alone. This saving comes as a result of the labour rate fixed at £55 (+VAT), minimum of 10% parts discount and capped prices on lubricants.

If this saving is applied to a small fleet operator with 20 vehicles, the amount saved becomes almost £2,400 across their fleet over the same period. Additionally, the reduced MoT cost of £40 would save the fleet £14.85 per vehicle, an additional £297, if the 20 vehicles exceed three years of age (standard MoT maximum fee is £54.85).

In this case, Hyundai’s Fleet Aftersales Charter could represent a reduction of almost £2,700 purely on routine service and maintenance costs.

If the less easily quantifiable elements of the Fleet Aftersales Charter are factored in, the cost reductions increase further. The provision of replacement vehicles for routine servicing and the reduction in downtime is difficult to quantify in real money terms, but every hour less off the road contributes a substantial amount to a company’s profit potential.

The five-year unlimited mileage warranty removes the risk to fleet customers of unexpected repair bills in years four and five, allowing them to budget more precisely for vehicle maintenance safe in the knowledge that the Hyundai new vehicle warranty is second to none.

 What the judges thought:

“It is a comprehensive service.”
