Mid-engined Audi R8 promises 911-style pace

For successful entrepreneurs wanting something different from a Porsche 911 – this is it.

The new Audi R8 isn’t a concept – it can be ordered from December. Pricing is from £77,000.

The R8 is powered by 4.2-litre V8 FSI petrol engine. It produces 420PS. Which means 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds. That’s slightly quicker than a Porsche 911 3.8 Carrera S.

The R8’s power is transmitted to all four wheels thanks to the Audi quattro four-wheel drive system.

There is the choice of six-speed manual transmission. Or R tronic sequential-shift with paddle controls.

  • Mid-engined supercar to rival Porsche
  • R8 available to order from December
  • Prices start at £77,000
  • V8 engine delivers 420PS
  • 0-62mph in 4.6secs; top speed 187mph
