An all-new Audi A3 Cabriolet will be launched next year.
Due in spring 2008, this is the first ever open top Audi in the compact sector.
It joins the Audi A4 Cabriolet and Audi TT Roadster in the line-up of convertible Audis.
The Audi A3 Cabriolet has a cloth hood that can be opened or closed at speeds up to 18mph. Sound insulation means the Cabriolet is only 1dB louder than the standard A3 hatchback. A wind deflector will also be available.
While the Audi A3 Cabriolet seats four, the rear seat backs can also be folded down to increase practicality.
There will be the choice of four engines. Two turbocharged petrol engines: a 160PS 1.8 TFSI; and a 200PS 2.0 TFSI.
And two turbo charged diesel engines: a 90PS 1.9 TDI; and a 140PS 2.0 TDI.
Audi’s S tronic dual-clutch gearbox will be offered as an option.
The Audi A3 Cabriolet will be front-wheel drive, although four-wheel drive quattro variants will be available later.
Specifications at launch are Standard or Sport. The latter includes 17-inch aluminium wheels, sports suspension and sports seats. An S line exterior package and S line sports package will also be available later in the year.
