Audi crushes company car tax

LAST week we reported on a car that every business should consider

LAST week we reported on a car that every business should consider – the new BMW 316d.

Well, here’s another: the all-new Audi A4 2.0 TDIe.

This astonishing new Audi simply rips up the rule book. There’s over 60mpg; the lowest diesel company car tax band of 13%; and yet there’s 136PS power on tap. Which rather outmuscles the BMW’s 116PS.

For a 20% tax rate payer, the Audi A4 2.0 TDIe costs £50 a month; and for a 40% tax rate payer, the cost is £101 a month.

Audi already has two ‘e’ models in its line up: the Audi A3 TDIe and Audi A6 TDIe. The new A4 TDIe uses the same low-torque 2.0-litre engine from the A6 – that means lots of strong, usable power low-down in the rev range. (In figures, that’s 320Nm from 1750rpm.)

Fuel-saving technologies on the A4 TDIe include a 20mm lower ride height for better aerodynamics; a start-stop system; ‘on-demand’ power steering; on-board efficiency advice with suggested gear change points; and recuperation technology, which recycles otherwise wasted kinetic energy from braking to the vehicle battery.

The new Audi A4 2.0 TDIe is available from October in standard (£23,340) and SE (£24,320) trim.
