What’s it like to drive?
If you’ve driven a previous generation A6, you’ll notice the difference in this one. It rides and handles much better than before, with a suppleness of ride quality that is distinctly improved. Handling is grippy and secure, and the new A6 is more fun on a twisty country route than its predecessors.
Its quieter and more refined too. If the business car budget won’t run to one of the silky three-litre V6 TDIs, you won’t be unduly disappointed to settle for the two-litre four-cylinder TDI that will be found lurking under the bonnet of most A6s. It has decent power and torque, good performance and civilised sound levels.
So what’s in the range?
Two body shapes, the saloon and the Avant estate car variant. Diesels with 2.0 or 3.0 litres, with power outputs from 190 to 320 PS. There are also A6 Allroad, S6 Saloon, S6 Avant and RS6 Avant models coming. The A models have 450 PS, and the RS6 Avant will have 560 PS.
Pricing is from £31,955 to £46,125 for the A6 Saloon, and from £33,955 to £48,125 for the Avant. The Allroad starts at 45,255, and the S6 from £56,000.
