  • Entire Jaguar Land Rover range will be electrified from 2020
  • Iconic Jaguar E-type now electrified for the 21st century
  • Jaguar I-PACE electric SUV goes on sale next year
  • Jaguar Land Rover Tech Fest from Friday 8 September to Sunday 10 September

FROM 2020 every Jaguar Land Rover model will be electrified. A lot of them are already electrifying but that’s not quite the same thing.

The electric Jaguar Land Rover range was announced ahead of the inaugural Tech Fest, a series of debates and public exhibitions about the future of mobility. The free-to-enter festival taking place at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, was open to the public from Friday 8 September to Sunday 10 September.

Jaguar was also revealing the all-electric E-Type Zero at the event. Regarded as the most beautiful car of all time this particular E-Type is a restored 1968 Roadster that has been converted to run on electricity.

The E-Type Zero is faster and more powerful than the original and offers zero emissions. Don’t ask how much it will cost because we really don’t know. The only information we have is that if you are interested you need to enquire. That usually indicates that something will be hugely expensive.

Dr Ralf Speth, Jaguar Land Rover Chief Executive Officer, said: “Every new Jaguar Land Rover model line will be electrified from 2020, giving our customers even more choice. We will introduce a portfolio of electrified products across our model range, embracing fully electric, plug-in hybrid and mild hybrid vehicles.”

The first of these electrified vehicles, the Jaguar I-Pace SUV, goes on sale next year with more to follow as existing models are updated or replaced. The fully electric I-PACE claims a range of around 300 miles, up to 395bhp, and a starting price in the region of £55,000.

There are also hints that we should expect some kind of hybrid versions of the XE, XJ, and F-Pace in the near future. There may even be a plug-in variant of both the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport to come.

Regardless of the order these new electrified cars hit the market it’s likely that they will be successful. The 21st Century looks promising for the electric Jaguar Land Rover range.
