WHEN was the last time you checked the tyres on your car? No need to be ashamed about it because we are generally not very good at checking.

I hold my hand up on this. I had not checked the tyre pressures on my Audi A6 recently and found them a couple of PSI down all round.

Of course, many modern cars come with tyre pressure warning systems. Now these are a useful safety device; but they also give a false sense of security. While they warn of sudden deflation, they don’t always monitor the gradual loss of air. And this does happen.
