Audi A4 - top choice of car by small business owners
Audi A4: understated and unflustered. It’s little surprise small businesses prefer the A4 diesel

Audi A4 diesel beats BMW 320d

The Audi A4 2.0 TDi is the top business car choice.

That’s according to businessmotoring.co.uk partner CompareContractHire.com. The site has tracked car orders over the last two months and the Audi A4 2.0 TDi comes out top.

It beat the low-tax BMW 320d and sophisticated Mazda 6 diesel to take top spot.

I’m not surprised. The Audi A4 I run does so many things so well. But in an understated, unflustered way. It’s also a car that makes you feel good to drive it.

From the tactile quality of the leather steering wheel to the amber/ochre colour of the indicator lamps built into the door mirrors, the car displays a level of detail that is lacking in rivals.

It’s also very quiet and relaxing – just what you need after a 10-12 hour working day, which I’m sure is the norm for many small business owners.

It has its faults, of course. The clutch rest is offset and your left foot fouls it. It can occasionally stall at low speeds (apparently it’s the dual mass flywheel) but these irritations are dwarfed by the obvious care with which the Audi A4 has been designed and built.

Robert Wastell, md of CompareContractHire.com commented to me: “A small business with three or four vehicles has the flexibility to choose the brand they want. Quite clearly, the brand with appeal is Audi.”
