A VOLKSWAGEN priced at almost £100,000 may be a bit hard to stomach, but that has not deterred customers for the Volkswagen XL1 hybrid.
Not that there will be many of them. Volkswagen has plans to make just 200 of the sci-fi looking eco supercar, and just 32 have been allocated to the UK.

Some of those already have names against them, although the order book does not officially open until October, with first deliveries due from March.
At a preview event and design briefing held in central London, based at a hotel beside Tower Bridge, one wealthy onlooker was so impressed by the svelte two-seater with its butterfly-wing doors that he put his name down for two of them.
A famous racing driver will be another early customer. Sadly, though, Volkswagen will not reveal names.
So if you’re a business entrepreneur looking for the latest in eco tech, then the Volkswagen XL1 could be just for you.
